Getting there

Gateway airport
NAP
From the airport
Naples (NAP), about 90 minutes from Positano

Fly to Naples, then hire a car or take the SITA bus to the coast. Positano is about 90 minutes from the airport; other towns are 10–30 minutes apart by road. Regular ferries link the main towns in summer, making the car optional for island and day-trip stays, though the mountain road to Ravello requires onward transport.

When to go

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are mild and the roads are less crowded. Summer (June–August) brings peak season—warm but packed with tourists and the coastal road is slow. Winter (November–March) is cool and quiet, with fewer ferries and some restaurants closed.

Getting around

The famous coastal road (SS163) winds through the cliffs—slow, spectacular, and not for nervous drivers. Walking is the main way through town centers; towns are small and steep. Ferries run between main towns in summer. A hire car gives access to Ravello and the hilltop villages. Hiking trails connect some towns.
